Edenwood Duo
Catherine Struys * classical guitar & Wouter Vercruysse * cello
In 2016 Catherine Struys and Wouter Vercruysse, a musician couple, decided to extend their partnership to the stage and founded the Edenwood Duo based on the idea of bringing alive repertoire written originally for guitar and cello from the 1950s onwards.
The duo have followed masterclasses with Sophie Hallynck and Guy Danel and has been performing since its creation both in Belgium and abroad. They gave concerts for prestigious venues as Bijloke Ghent, Palais des Beaux Arts Charleroi, 30CC Leuven, Chambre a Part Lille, Royal Academy London and Festival Millesources (France). They are laureate of the International Music Competition Léopold Bellan 2017 in Paris and the 'revelation' of the International Music Festival 2017 in Cap Ferret.
The Edenwood Duo has made several recordings, including the world premiere of Alan Charlton's Suite for cello and guitar (Et’Cetera Records) and the works of Koshkin and Gismonti for the album The GCM Project (A Croch'Note Production). With Another Place and Light Blue, Edenwood released two albums with a selection of works written originally for guitar and cello over the past 30 years.
Edenwood Duo received praising reviews for their recordings in Gramophone (UK), Larsen (BE), Soundboard (US), Classical Guitar Magazine (US), EarRelevant (US), Guitare Classique (FR), Rondo Magazin (DE) and Pizzicato (LU). Their recordings have been broadcasted on multiple occasions on BBC Radio 3 (UK), France Musique (FR), Klara (BE), Musiq'3 (BE), NPO 4 (NL), de Concertzender (NL), Classical Guitar Alive (US) and Classical Discoveries (US).
